Thoracic Cancers

Thoracic Cancers

Thoracic Cancer affects the structures, organs, and glands in your chest (thoracic cavity). Common types of Thoracic Cancers include lung cancer, thymus cancer, pleural cancer, and esophageal cancer.

Thoracic oncology focuses on intrathoracic cancers of the chest areas and includes such malignancies as esophageal cancer, small cell and non-small lung cancer and mesothelioma.

Thoracic surgery include coronary artery bypass surgery, heart transplant, lung transplant and removal of parts of the lung affected by cancer.

The more time you spend smoking, and the more cigarettes you smoke, the higher your risk. Being around other people who smoke also increases your risk. This “second-hand” smoke causes thousands of cases of Thoracic Cancer every year.
